The conversion of a former furniture store into new Local Enterprise Growth Initiative offices.
The client’s requirement was for a striking ‘Landmark’ building. The existing out of date brick and render-faced external walls and uPVC windows were transformed with black tiling, aluminium windows and trims.
The building was re-configured to provide office facilities and included the installation of a lift to the two storey section and relocating the staircase in the two storey extension. Replacement of the roof coverings and the first floor link between the two storey building and annexe were also undertaken.
To deliver the client’s requirement for the building to be operational in a short timescale, a contractor was appointed by two-stage tender.
The procurement route, design development, timescale and extent of post-contract variations required a close working relationship with all parties; this was successfully achieved and the client’s objectives of time, cost and quality were realised.
