The 2,600m2 Norfolk Barn-styled building stands within the Campus of City College Norwich. It is clad with timber and has a fully glazed West Façade. The interior is built around a naturally lit central area and is designed with a combination of large and smaller spaces to promote the interaction between students of the different disciplines the building caters for.

Not only does the building provide the College with bright open spaces to inspire creativity, it is also designed to be of low energy consumption and consequently of low-carbon which has sucessfully acheived a target rating of 'BREEAM Excellent'. The ‘green features’ include rainwater harvesting, ground source heat pumps, a solar photovoltaic (PV) system, natural and mechanical ventilation systems and brown water recycling.
Allman Woodcock assisted City College Norwich in their successful bid to obtain funding from the Skills Funding Agency, through cost planning, life-cycle cost analysis and financial reporting.
Our appointment then extended to one of lead consultant, embodying the roles of Employer’s Agent and Quantity Surveying. Pre-contract services included close liaison with the design team and presenting regular updates to develop the cost planning processes throughout the various design stages up to tender.
Allman Woodcock assembled the Employer’s Requirements and assisted and guided the College throughout the OJEU procurement process, including the selection procedure for the Contractor. Employer’s Agent and cost consultancy services continued throughout the construction and post-construction phases, to successfully deliver the completed building.
