Archbishop Sancroft High School, Harleston

Allman Woodcock were commissioned by the Diocese of Norwich as Quantity Surveyor on the new Food Technology & Creative Media Building at Archbishop Sancroft High School, Harleston.

The timber framed single storey L-shaped building comprises two separate teaching areas with a shared central link between. It contains a Creative Media Suite which has a multi-use hall with integral cinema style seating to one end, together with a sliding sound-proof wall converting it into two smaller areas for separate forms of drama study. This area has an extensive range of theatre lighting to facilitate the required stage setting. There are associated Media and Community rooms and Drama stores for props and equipment.

The other area comprises fully equipped rooms dedicated to Food Technology. The building also includes a community training suite, which will be used for adult education, first aid courses and parenting courses.

The building benefits from high ceilings of natural timber which, together with window ranges and decoration provides a light airy environment.

Work was completed within budget and to a very tight programme notwithstanding.
